Thursday, 11 March 2010
Azur Pharma today 11th March 2010, announced that it has acquired the worldwide rights (other than Europe) to Prialt ® from Elan Pharmaceuticals Inc. Prialt, which had end-user sales of $20 million in 2009, is used in the USA for the management of severe chronic pain in patients whom intrathecal (“IT”) therapy is warranted and who are intolerant of other treatment. Azur will offer employment to a 34 person specialty pharmaceutical infrastructure, which is currently supporting the product at Elan.
Azur is a highly successful pharmaceutical company that specialises in identifying, acquiring and enhancing the value of late stage development and approved pharmaceutical products. At the closing of this transaction Azur will have 170 employees and had revenues of $100 million for 2009. ByrneWallace has worked with the Azur management team on a number of significant transactions and we look forward to their continued success in this and future acquisitions.
