Barbara O'Neill - Associate
Barbara O'Neill is an Associate with ByrneWallace and is qualified in Ireland, the United States and in England & Wales. Barbara’s focus within the life science practice is on the regulatory area for medical devices and pharmaceutical products in Ireland, the EU and the United States. Barbara’s background and experience in litigating complex product liability cases involving pharma and medical devices allows her to advise on regulatory matters in a more comprehensive and pragmatic manner.
Key experience
- Since joining ByrneWallace, Barbara has been advising medical device companies on regulatory matters involving the US Food and Drug administration, the Irish Medicines Board/National Standards Authority of Ireland. She has also advised on regulatory matters involving the European Medicines Agency.
- On the professional regulation side, Barbara has been involved in advising the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland on various matters.
- Barbara is an Attorney-at-Law in the United States having practised as a trial lawyer in the area of pharmaceutical and medical device product liability before the state and federal courts, including Multi-District Litigation and class action litigation, for eight years before moving to Ireland.
- Barbara has acted on behalf of major pharmacy chains in the United States, including Eckerd Drugs, and pharmaceutical companies including American Home Products and Wyeth.
- Barbara was also involved in lobbying the US Food and Drug Administration regarding various regulatory matters and also lobbied on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. regarding key aspects of the Medicare Prescription Drug Improvement and Modernization Act and the Class Action Fairness Act.

Besides being a qualified solicitor in Ireland, Barbara is a member of The Florida Bar, American Trial Lawyers Association, American Bar Association and Roll of Solicitors in England & Wales.
