Olive Doyle - Partner
Olive is a partner in the Health Services Department with specialist expertise in advising on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious matters to clients in both the public and the private Health Care Sector. She joined the firm's newly established Health Service Department in 2003 and became a partner in 2006. Olive, who is widely recognised as one of Ireland’s most experienced health care law practitioners specialises in advising on the nursing home legislation, regulatory compliance, mental health legislation; public and private inquiries; hospital emergencies such as the administration of life saving treatment, public administration law and general advice in relation to the day to day running of a health care facility such as consent to treatment, confidentiality, record retention and risk management. Most recently, Olive:
- Successfully defended judicial review proceedings on behalf of the then South Western Area Health Board in the Supreme Court in relation to the provision of a home birth service/domiciliary birth service.
- Represented the then South Western Area Health Board in a high profile care which involved the de-registration of a nursing home.
- Represented the then North Eastern Health Board in the Lourdes Enquiry.
- Successfully defended judicial review proceedings on behalf of the then Northern Area Health Board in relation to the provision of nursing care in the home.
- Successfully defended a number of cases relating to habeas corpus application – Article 40 of the Constitution on behalf of the HSE in the High Court and Supreme Court on the interpretation of the Mental Health Act 2001.
- Represented the HSE in defending the HSE’s position in the provision of the health related service to a child with autism, which ran for 72 days in the High Court.
