Born and educated in Germany, Ursula qualified as a Rechtsanwältin (German Lawyer) in 1995 and practises as an Irish Solicitor with ByrneWallace heading up its Taxation Department. Ursula has extensive commercial experience in a range of areas including, tax, inwards investment, commercial agreements, construction, mergers and acquisitions, maritime law, and intellectual property rights.

Ursula has worked with the European Commission in Brussels, and practised in a number of Law firms in Germany, UK, Belgium and Ireland. Ursula has also worked in Industry as Legal Counsel for a multinational corporation, based in Dublin where she advised on International Vat and represented clients before the tax authorities in multiple jurisdictions across Europe.

Ursula is fluent in three languages, English, French and German and is a regular speaker at a number of Legal and Tax conferences in Europe and in Ireland

Directorships and memberships

Ursula maintains good relationships with professional, trade, and diplomatic organisations representing and advising businesses and individuals. She is a Director and Council member of the following organisations;

  • Ireland France Chamber of Commerce;
  • Ireland Spain Economic Association;

Ursula is an active member of the Austrian Society, the Belgium-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, and is Vice President of the German - Irish Lawyers and Business Association.

Key transaction experience

  • Advised Irish Investors on the Irish taxation issues in relation to  a large scale foreign investment;
  • Advised foreign construction firms engaged in high value construction projects in Ireland on company law and their Irish tax obligations in particular Corporation tax, PAYE/PRSI, VAT and RCT, as well as making them aware of issues in their own jurisdictions and double taxation issues;
  • Advised foreign companies on the acquisition of Irish companies;
  • Advised clients in relation to unprompted voluntary disclosures and conducted settlement negotiations with the Irish Revenue Commissioners;
  • Advised a large international tolling company in relation to a PPP motorway project;
  • Advised several German Banks in relation to their Irish based  activities;
  • Advised foreign company in relation to the closure of its Irish branch and the resultant redundancies;
  • Advised individuals and companies in relation to the remittance basis of taxation;
  • Advised clients in relation to the Business Expansion Scheme, Patent company structures, and Research and Development tax credits;
  • Advised individuals and estates in relation to inheritance tax and related double taxation issues.
