Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a positive and practical approach to doing business: it maximises the benefits we can help bring about for our people, our clients and our communities and manages the impact we have on the environment. At ByrneWallace our CSR policy promotes opportunities to meet and exceed the expectations of clients, employees and other stakeholders beyond our normal statutory and business obligations. By taking this approach to CSR, we enhance our most valuable intangible asset – our reputation.

Our people

We invest in our people to enable them to develop and achieve their potential as top quality professionals, and as well-rounded individuals who are equipped to make a difference. We do this by providing tailored training programmes covering both technical legal and broader skills designed to encourage personal development.

Our working practices focus on teamwork, individual contribution and shared responsibility for the work produced. As an equal opportunities employer, we promote respect and dignity in the workplace and believe in strength through diversity.

We recognise and welcome the desire of our people to have a positive impact on their communities. In addition to providing opportunities to take part in the firm-sponsored initiatives outlined below, we are sympathetic to individual requests for support with external community and charitable enterprises.

Our green work environment

We provide our staff with a safe and pleasant place to work. We understand that staff spend more waking hours in the office than they do in their own homes; the importance of an enjoyable workplace cannot be overstated. Our Health & Safety policy regulates and controls that workplace, not just from a statutory position but from the practical perspectives of our staff.

We are committed to energy efficiency and managing our impact on the environment. Recent initiatives include:

  • A comprehensive Environmental Management Programme
  • The recycling of 95% of our waste
  • A binless office policy across the firm
  • The introduction of waste and food recycling facilities on every floor
  • The installation of leading edge environmentally friendly technologies in our new offices in Grand Canal Square, including a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) system
  • Ireland’s first and only law firm to implement an integrated Environmental Management System in accordance with the EMS International Standard 14001.

Our community

ByrneWallace supports charitable organisations and community-based initiatives in a variety of ways. We recognise that having our staff actively engaged in volunteering and charitable fundraising creates valuable opportunities for personal growth and cooperation between our staff, our business, our clients and the wider community.

ByrneWallace makes significant planned contributions to a number of charities. In addition, the firm actively supports the following community organisations and initiatives:

  • St Audeon’s School
