Friday, 09 February 2024

ByrneWallace LLP is delighted to announce that the acquisition of Boojum by Azzurri Group, a transaction which ByrneWallace advised on, has been shortlisted for Deal of the Year (above €10 million) in the Insider Northern Ireland (NI) Dealmakers Awards.

The Insider NI Dealmakers Awards recognise the best-performing professional advisory firms (and the individuals working within them) which have worked on transactions involving NI businesses during the qualifying period.

During 2023, ByrneWallace LLP advised the shareholders of Boojum on its sale to the Azzurri Group, one of the UK’s largest casual dining businesses.

Boojum is a much loved chain of Mexican-inspired burrito bars with locations across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Established in Belfast in 2007, it has grown to become one of Ireland’s most popular casual dining chains with 14 stores. The sale of the business marks another significant milestone in the development of this business.

The ByrneWallace LLP multi-disciplinary team advising on this transaction was led by Corporate Partner Eamonn Carey.

The team included Zelda Deasy (Partner, Data Protection/GDPR), Liam Connellan (Partner, Pensions Law), Emmet Connolly (Associate, Corporate), John O’Connor (Solicitor, Corporate), Kelly Mackey (Associate, Data Protection/GDPR), Barrie Scott (Solicitor, Data Protection/GDPR), Michelle McVeigh (Partner, Property), Paraic O’Kennedy (Partner, Banking and Finance), John Crowe (Senior Associate, Banking and Finance), Laura Greene (Partner, Technology), Mark O’Shaughnessy (Partner, Litigation and Dispute Resolution), and Brian Murphy (Associate, Employment Law).

The winners of the Insider NI Dealmakers Awards will be announced at a gala dinner event at the Europa Hotel, Belfast on 7 March 2024.
