COVID-19 WEBINAR: Time for Change: COVID-19 and Irish Real Estate - 4 June @10am GMT

Thursday, 28 May 2020

The COVID-19 emergency has given us greater insights into what can and cannot be achieved digitally when transacting in real estate in Ireland and also on some of the risks that have been routinely undertaken by contracting parties and how these may change.

At this webinar, which takes place on Thursday, 4 June at 10am GMT, Head of Property, Michael Walsh will moderate a panel discussion with property partners Alison O’Sullivan, Neil Dunne, Derville White and Michelle McVeigh and senior associate Aoife Hearne.  Michael will outline key issues that immediately arose for property dealers, owners and occupiers in the early stages of the COVID-19 lockdown, before inviting the panel to share their insights on how the experience of operating in COVID-19 lockdown may influence risk transference going forward and show us the way in which transactions can be carried out digitally.

Topics for discussion will include:

  • Sharing the risk of a second wave or future pandemics in property contracts and leases
  • Risk sharing with retailers through increased use of turnover rent arrangements
  • Management of liability risks for landlords and tenants as employees return to work
  • Modernisation of real estate transactions, building on innovations implemented during lockdown
